Pressel Family Reunion Castle In Cincinnati Graceland Vermont, New York, Montreal

As some of you know, Becky and Paul (well Paul) has an unusual fondness for Roy Rogers Restaurants. Our first jobs were at Roy Rogers, and that's where we met. Since Frisch's closed their Roy Rogers franchise we thought we'd never eat there again since we thought most of the remaining restaurants are in the Northeast. We were surprised to find a "original" Roy Rogers restaurant that has been independently owned and operated since Frisch's closed all the other stores down. It's just East of Cincinnati, and the Roast Beef sandwich is still the best fast-food roast beef ever!

Chateau La Roche Castle - Loveland, Ohio

Chateau La Roche is a real castle just outside of Cincinnati in Loveland, Ohio. It was the lifetime work of a man who decided that boys needed a club where they could learn to be honorable like the legendary knights of the round table. He actually built the castle almost entirely by himself on the banks of the Little Miami River by carrying stones from the river bank up a hill, mixing mortar and laying the stones all by hand. Former members of the club had to put the finishing touches on the castle after he died.

Graceland

After over a quarter-century of driving back and forth between Texas and Ohio we finally slowed down in Memphis long enough to visit the King's home; Graceland. This was probably the most crowded place we've been at since Disneyland. Luckily we arrived early. It's a beautiful home, kept just as it was in the 60's. It is not as stately as we had imagined but rather a somewhat normal home...with some psychedelic touches!

Vermont-New York-Montreal

We saw a little of everything on this trip, taken in early October a couple of weeks before our 30th anniversary. We were hoping to catch the Vermont foliage at its most colorful. Vermont was great, but Upstate New York was equally beautiful. Here are links to the various stages of the trip.
