We ventured into Upstate New York twice, both times via
Ferry on Lake Champlain. The first was a 20-minute ride to Ft.
Ticonderoga, NY.
Paul's obsession with visiting State Capitols took us on a
day-long trip from the beautiful Green Mountains in Vermont along Lakes
Champlain and George to Albany, NY. We sped through Albany once several
years ago but did not stop at the Capitol building. This time, while we
were not in a hurry, we arrived fairly late in the day and missed the last
guided tour. As a result we didn't get to go inside anything but did get a
good background from a wonderful gentleman at an information desk.

The building was filled with art work, ceiling murals (such as this
one) and lots of gold leaf highlights. |

Our next venture into New York was on an hour-long voyage
via from Burlington, Vt to Port Kent, NY. Almost immediately we stumbled
upon the Ausable Chasm, then it was a day-long venture through the Adirondacks
to Lake Placid then back to Vermont. This was the last day of our vacation
and it ended with a beautiful sunset over Lake Champlain.
