Oregon
August, 2005

We flew into Portland but didn't stay long.  We headed south to visit the State Capitol of Salem the on to the coast.  After a night's rest it was up the coast, back to Portland, then to Mount Hood and North into Washington.

Washington
August, 2005

Day 2 closed with a visit to Mount St. Helens.  The rest of the trip was spent in Washington except for one day and night in Canada.  The best part was meeting relatives we either had never met or do not remember meeting!

tickets. (That's Karla and Mark

The street level of Seattle was once
much lower.  The city was filled in
over a period of years after fire
burned down most of the city. But
rebuilding began before the fill was
complete.  Some of the boardwalks
and other items from the city's
original street level can be seen on
the "Underground Seattle" tour.

British Columbia
August, 2005

We spent one day and night in Victoria, the capitol of British Columbia.  We were a little concerned when we arrived at our hotel and were told the room had been taken.  But they refunded our money and gave us a free night at the Hilton!  We took a people ferry from Port Angeles Washington so we were under foot power the whole time.
